1. Chiado: The Goldilocks Zone (Best for First-Timers)
If you want to walk out of your hotel and have everything within ten minutes, Chiado is your answer. It sits perfectly between the flat, grid-like Baixa district and the hilly, atmospheric Bairro Alto. It is central, convenient, close to major sights, and full of charming cafes and bookshops.
The Vibe: European elegance meets accessible city life. Think cobblestones that are actually walkable, and boutique shops next to historic theaters.
Best Boutique Hotel: The Ivens

It is housed in a restored 19th-century building with a stunning interior courtyard and a rooftop that looks out over the Tagus River.
