Over the years, I’ve become surprisingly picky about what makes a great travel bag. It needs to be comfortable, secure, versatile, and stylish enough that I don’t feel like I’m carrying hiking gear through some of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The Crossbody Bag That Goes Everywhere
If I’m choosing just one bag for a Europe trip, it’s almost always a crossbody.
A good crossbody keeps your hands free, stays close to your body in crowded areas, and works equally well whether you’re wandering a museum, sitting at a café, or navigating public transportation.
The sweet spot is something large enough for:

- Sunglasses

- Lip balm
- A few small essentials
But small enough that it doesn’t become heavy after a full day of sightseeing.
I generally gravitate toward black, red, or neutral colors that pair with everything and avoid overly trendy styles that might feel dated in travel photos later.
The Lightweight Tote I Always Pack
Even when I carry a crossbody during the day, I almost always pack a foldable tote.
It’s one of those items that doesn’t seem important until you need it.
